Join the excitement of “Our Town: The Abingtons”!

Abington Area Residents Encouraged to Attend Community Planning Meeting for WVIA-TV’s ‘Our Town: The Abingtons’ Program – Volunteers Needed

WVIA invites all Abington area residents and representatives of businesses and organizations to a community planning meeting for the “Our Town: The Abingtons” television program Tuesday, November 24 at 6:00 p.m. at the Abington Community Library located at 1200 W. Grove Street in Clarks Summit.

At this meeting, residents will discuss which landmarks, events and local stories the program should explore for an upcoming documentary, “Our Town: The Abingtons”. WVIA will answer questions about the project during the meeting and ask the volunteer videographers and/or storytellers to narrow the list of subjects and events to videotape.  WVIA hopes to recruit 20 to 25 area residents with personal camcorders and photographs. “Our Town: The Abingtons” will debut in the Spring of 2016 on WVIA-TV. This opportunity is being coordinated by members of the Abington Business and Professional Association.

Anyone interested in being a videographer and/or storyteller for the program should contact WVIA “Our Town” producer, Lisa Mazzarella, at 570-602-1164 or by emailing lisamazzarella@wvia.org. Individuals or businesses interested in sponsorship opportunities for this unique and exciting project should contact Star Joyce at 570-602-1177 or by emailing starjoyce@wvia.org. Sponsorship will include visual recognition on the DVD, multiple on-line thank you’s, and much, much more depending on the level.

As northeastern Pennsylvania’s and the Central Susquehanna Valley’s public television station serving a very large geographic area, the “Our Town” project was initiated in an effort to involve the communities and their residents with WVIA. The “Our Town” documentary series is intended to treat viewers to the many personalities, perspectives, and possibilities that local towns have to offer.
