‘Film Forward’ Film Series Coming to Scranton Library

The Scranton Public Library is pleased to announce its selection as a screening site for the prestigious “FILM FORWARD: ADVANCING CULTURAL DIALOGUE” film series.  FILM FORWARD is an international program designed to enhance greater cultural understanding, collaboration and dialogue around the globe by engaging audiences through the exhibition of films, workshops and conversations.  An initiative of the Sundance Institute and the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities – in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Institute of Museum and Library Services, FILM FORWARD promotes cultural dialogue through independent documentary and narrative film, using film’s unique ability to tell stories that explore universal themes to ignite meaningful conversations.

All screenings will be held in the library’s Community Room, located in the basement of the Lackawanna County Children’s Library at 520 Vine Street, Scranton. There is no charge and the public is encouraged to attend.

Free screenings and discussions of the thought-provoking films are scheduled as follows:

20 Feet From Stardom on Monday, April 14th at 7 pm, moderated by Dr. Philip Mosley

The World Before Her on Wednesday, April 16th at 7 pm, moderated by Ms. Sheli McHugh

If You Build It on Thursday, April 17th at 7 pm, moderated by Ms. Sharon McCrone

Valentine Road on Monday, April 21st at 7 pm, moderated by Dr. John McNerney

The Rocket on Tuesday, April 22nd at 7 pm, moderated by Mr. Kevin Norris

Circles on Wednesday, April 23rd at 7 pm, moderated by Dr. Phil Jenkins

Dancing in Jaffa on Thursday, April 24th at 7 pm, moderated by Ms. Alicia Grega
