Adobe Programs Available @ Libraries

Training Offered Along with Programs

Artists and hobbyists who want to work with audio files, photos, video and graphics but don’t have the right programs on their home computers can do their work at the library.

Adobe programs including Premiere, for video editing, Audition, a workstation for mixing, finishing, & editing audio, PhotoShop, a program for working with photos and other digital images, and Illustrator, an application for working with visual art and graphics, are available at Creation Station, a service now offered at libraries throughout the Lackawanna County Library System.

Creation Stations are being installed at Abington Community Library, North Pocono Public Library, Valley Community Library and the Scranton Public Library and will be up and running in May.

Libraries that don’t have permanent Creation Stations will benefit from mobile units that will travel to the other libraries in the System on a rotating basis.

The four permanent Creation Stations will be equipped with iMac computers and the full suite of Adobe programs. Mobile unit users will work on 21.5 inch Macbook tablets.

Peripherals such as microphones and headphones will also be available.

“Libraries work very hard to be on the cutting edge of communications technologies, and that means providing our patrons with the tools they need,” said Mary Garm, Library System administrator. “Creation Station puts creativity and communications technologies in libraries where everyone has access to them.”

According to Mrs. Garm, library system administrator, the Library System is offering training for those who want to use the programs.

Kurt Sussman and Justin Kraky from Transcendent Digital Media will conduct the training. Each session will begin with a 90-minute introduction to the Adobe application, followed by a 90-minute facilitated open lab. Register for one or both.

All training sessions are on Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m. Registration is required. Anyone wishing to attend should call or visit the library they wish to attend.
