This Summer, We Built a Better World

Thank you to everyone who helped make this summer such a success at the Abington Community Library. Thank you especially if you contributed money after we lost some funding. If it not for you, we would not have been able to bring such exciting and diverse programs (like Dinosaur Dig, Cupcake Wars, and Messy Science) for the young people in our community. And, thank you to the Friends of the Abington Community Library, who sponsored Pop Art for Families and our third annual Mini Pow Wow.

This year was our biggest Summer Reading Club yet, with 636 children registering and 258 completing. Kids read over 258,000 minutes and earned fun prizes like earbuds and books for all their hard work.

We surveyed 118 children and teens at the end of the summer and found that 110 of them consider themselves to be better readers after completing the Summer Reading Club. Kids and their parents had great things to say about the Library. Here is a sampling, below:

“We are so happy to be part of this library community.”

“We love it here.”

“I like sharing books with my sister.”

The library “has it all.”

“We love storytime.”

“We are moving before the fall and hope we find a library where we move that is just as great as this one.”

I like to go to the Library because: “it makes me happy,” “it helps my mind enjoy reading,” “there are books and movies I like,” “quiet and peaceful,” “meet new friends,” “different clubs,” & “free books!”

Thank you all for making this Library, YOUR Library, such a special place. Stop by today to find out what exciting things are happening in the fall!
