Kickin’ It Tuesday

Beginning in 2018, the Abington Community Library will begin hosting Kickin’ It Tuesday – a themed monthly program for teens in 9-12th grade. With everything from STEM building challenges to movie nights to extreme crafting to mindfulness, we’ll cover it all! Suggestions are always welcome so tell your teens to give us a shout.

To kick the year off, January’s program will focus on mindfulness. According to the American Psychological Association, some benefits of mindfulness are: stress reduction, improved focus, and even enhanced memory. To learn more about mindfulness, read the full article.  The mindfulness program will look at the causes of stress and then identify practical ways to combat them. Teens will learn simple breathing techniques, a basic yoga sequence, and make a small DIY lavender calming spray to take home. A short and optional journal exercise will also be available for teens to use during or after the program.

Kickin’ It Tuesday: Mindfulness @ The Abington Community Library –  Tuesday, January 30 from 7 to 8 PM for teens in 9-12th grade. Sign up at the Library or give us a call: 570.587.3440. Be on the lookout for February’s Kickin’ It Tuesday program!
