May is Mental Health Month

Every year,  millions of people across the world struggle with mental illness – as many as 1 in 5 people will be affected by a mental illness in their lifetime. National Mental Health Awareness Month is celebrated during the month of May – we can all work together to fight stigma, provide support, educate the public and advocate for policies that support people with mental illness and their families.  Stop by the library to browse our selection of books highlighting mental health, attend our library programs, or ask about ways you can learn more about this important topic.

For Kids:
Preschool Storytime
The central theme around this months Preschool storytime will be “taking care of yourself and the world around you”,
with a preschool storytime focusing on emotions and feelings on May 21st.
(Storytimes are 10:30, 11:30, & 1:30)

For Adults:
Quiet Your Mind – Thursday, May 30, 6:30-7:30pm
Drop in during this program to complete a calming art project, meditate on your own, create a ‘zine, or plant a flower to take home.
Each person will leave with a packet full of resources and information about mental health.
