Junior Battle of the Books Team Meeting @ Nancy Kay Holmes Branch

About this event: The Junior Battle of the Books is a fun and competitive contest for readers in 4th-6th grade. Library teams will be quizzed on the 5 selected books at the end of the summer in a countywide contest on  August 3rd at Marywood University. Teams consist of 3-5 members and participants are quizzed on their knowledge of the selected books. There will be weekly team meetings throughout the summer. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team! Represent your library in this county-wide contest!

Meeting Schedule: Meetings are held weekly on Wednesdays at 4PM.

June 21 – Meet the Team and Learn the Rules

June 28 – Wonder by R.J. Palacio

July 5 – Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Blume

July 12 – Lemonade War by Jacqueline Davies

August 2 – Review all titles and prepare for Battle

Amazing Animal Adaptations: Live Animal Show @ Nancy Kay Holmes Branch

Join us for a live animal show called Amazing Animal Adaptations. Kathy Uhler from The Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center will bring a combination of a snake, turtle, owl, hawk, falcon, and two or three mammals. Gain insight to animal senses and the physical adaptations that allow them to survive (fur, feathers, eyesight, sense of smell, warning colors, teeth and talons.
