Avoid the Summer Slide with “Every Hero Has a Story” Summer Reading Club

“Children who do not read over the summer will lose up to three months of reading achievement,” while children who read during the summer continue to improve their reading skills.

Our goal for summer reading is to encourage children to keep READING!

Children birth to grade 6 are eligible to join our “Every Hero Has a Story” Summer Reading Club at their local Lackawanna County Library System library. Each library has a lot of great things planned for children this summer!

Children who participate in the Summer Reading Club are eligible for two great incentives from local attractions.

• Passport to Summer Fun: Popular local attractions are offering special programs just for kids who sign up for Summer Reading clubs at Lackawanna County libraries.
• Reading Railroad Voucher: Children read just 5 book to be eligible for a free ticket to a Railrider Game at PNC Field on library night on Wednesday, August 12^th. Don’t forget after you read the 5 books your voucher must be stamped at the library.
