2016 Pulitzer Prizes Announced

Book Categories Offer Great Reading Suggestions

A novel that explores the troubling legacy of the Vietnam War, and a biography of General George Armstrong Custer received the Pulitzer medals for fiction and history, while Hamilton, currently playing on Broadway to standing-room-only crowds, was awarded the prize for drama.

Scranton native Stephen Karam’s play, The Humans, was a finalist in the drama category. Described as “a profoundly affecting drama that sketches the psychological and emotional contours of an average American family,” The Humans is currently playing on Broadway.

Established in the will of 19th Century publisher Joseph Pulitzer, the announcement of the prizes is a cultural highlight of the year in the United States. See the complete list, including awards in journalism, letters, drama & music.
