PBS Book Series Premieres Tuesday, May 22

The Public Broadcasting System (PBS) wants to find out what America’s favorite book of fiction is so it’s launching a new television series that aims to find out.

The Great American Read begins with a list of 100 novels and asks people to vote online for the one they love best. The series premiere on May 22 will be followed next fall by an eight-part series that will take viewers across the country to hear their fellow citizens opine on their favorite books.

Readers love to talk about books and to hear good talk about books, and that’s what the series promises.

WVIA, the local PBS station, has asked Lackawanna County libraries to get involved, and we will. Watch for activities coming to your favorite library about how you can participate in The Great American Read.
