Book Lists Provide Plenty of Reading Ideas

The Best of 2018

Readers love book lists, so here are a few to help you plan your own reading or gift giving this holiday season.

Library Reads is a monthly report of favorites chosen by librarians from throughout the country. Their Favorite of Favorites 2018 is a worth a look.

The Chicago Public Library’s Best of the Best Books 2018 organizes its recommendations by age, from adult though teen and on to children. The lists are extensive, so you can be sure that there is something for everyone to be found there.

The New York Times’ 100 Notable Books is one of the most anticipated compilations of outstanding books every year and 2018’s list is no exception. One of the best things about it is the way it is organized. There are fifteen categories including biography, foreign affairs, science and sports, so it’s easy to find the kinds of books you like best.

Literary Hub describes itself as “a single, trusted, daily source for all the news, ideas and richness of contemporary literary life,” and so it is for people who love books and reading. It publishes a lively favorites list that’s worth a look. While you’re at it, give yourself an early Christmas present by subscribing to the free Literary Hub newsletter. The subscription link is on the home page.

Take a look at the lists and good reading to you in 2019!
