Explore our local public lands this summer with the Lackawanna County Library System, the Pennsylvania Sierra Club, and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) with “All Together Through the Woods.”
Sunday, July 9- Lackawanna State Park
On Sunday, July 9th we will learn about Lackawanna State Park with special guest, Tony DeSantis from DCNR, then hike Pine Trail and discover plants and wildlife in the woods. Fawn Contreras from the Valley Community Library will bring a book for all ages to enjoy as we rest and enjoy the lakeside.
Sunday, June 25- Pinchot State Forest
On Sunday, June 25th we will learn about Pinchot State Forest with special guest, Julian Maza from DCNR, then hike the Roaring Brook and Creekside trails and discover plants and wildlife in the woods. Fawn Contreras from the Valley Community Library will bring a book for all ages to enjoy as we have a picnic lunch on the brook’s bank.
Registration is required at sierraclub.org/pennsylvania/upcoming-outings. All ages are welcome at this event, the trail is easy with natural paths and some uneven surfaces. The trails are not stroller friendly. Participants should bring their own lunch to enjoy.
All Together Through the Woods will promote health literacy and bring people together to enjoy the outdoors and inspire curiosity for all.
