Are you using or thinking of using an insulin pump to manage your diabetes? Talk with diabetics who know. Join insulin pump users with/without a sensor in a group setting to share and talk about your experiences. The group is open to children, parents, and senior citizens who are presently using a pump or are considering it. Meeting at the library and on Zoom.
The monthly Insulin Pump Support Group which regularly meets at the Abington Community Library will have a change of location for the June meeting only because the library is closed that day. The Gathering Place, 304 South State Street, Clarks Summit, PA will host the June 19th meeting at 6:00 PM. The meeting is free and open to the public.
Shivaun O’Donnell, RN and a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) with Tandem Diabetes, will once again speak to the group. She brings both professional expertise and personal experience to her work having lived with type 1 diabetes for over 40 years. She has been using insulin pump therapy for more than two decades and will share information about Tandem insulin pump therapy. She also has expert knowledge about all types of pump therapy.
Shivaun’s journey into diabetes care began in 2011, when she decided to leave her previous career, return to school, and become a registered nurse. Inspired by her own experiences, she pursued her passion to support and educate others living with diabetes, ultimately becoming a diabetes educator.
Shivaun joined Tandem after using the Tandem products for about six years, and having had the burden of diabetes eased greatly with their automated insulin delivery products. Having used Tandem Tslim X2 and she is now on the newest Tandem Movi.
Today, she works closely with people using pump therapy, helping them learn how to use the Tandem insulin pump products, and to find ways of managing their diabetes to get the best possible results.
She lives in Dallas, Pennsylvania, with her husband Chris and their three beloved cats.
