The Lackawanna County Library System is proud to announce world-renowned presidential historian, public speaker, and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Doris Kearns Goodwin Doris Kearns Goodwin as the speaker for the 2023 American Masters Lecture. Goodwin is the author of seven books and is well known as a commentator for documentaries, television series, and news programs. Her most recent book, Leadership in Turbulent Times, is a synthesis of five decades of presidential scholarship and was published to critical acclaim, instantly becoming a New York Times best seller.
The American Masters Lecture will be held on Wednesday, September 13 at 7:00 P.M. at the Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple Free tickets to the event are available at all Lackawanna County Library System libraries and online at This event is supported by generous grants and donations from area foundations, businesses, and individuals.
