Our Featured Artist for June: Gina Rice

Gina Rice is best known for her freeform expressive wearables in crochet wire jewelry, felt as well as her hand build ceramic sculptures. Gina is a teaching artist who has been honing her skills for the past twenty years. Her work consists of abstract shapes, lines and silhouettes. Color is often explored and expressed freely adding an air of fluidity and joy to the work. Gina has said, “My work is art and is intended to be as aesthetically pleasing to see as it is to wear.” This wearable art is meant to evoke the divine feminine    power in its wearers. Her ceramic sculptures are abstract portraits representing a personal visual vocabulary that draws the viewer in with narratives that capture the imagination. In this way the work is highly personal and communicates on a universal level as well.
