January’s Classic Movie Night will feature the 1985 musical comedy Girls Just Want To Have Fun, starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Helen Hunt, and Shannon Doherty.  It will screen Wednesday, December 21st at 6 PM in the Henkelman Room.  The screening is free with your library card.

In 1985, before she was Carrie Brawshaw or a Sanderson Sister, future Emmy winner Sarah Jessica Parker was Janie Glenn, an Catholic schoolgirl and Army brat whose dream is to be on Chicago’s hottest show Dance TV.  With the help of her best friends Lynn Stone (future Emmy and Oscar winner Helen Hunt) and Maggie Malene (future Beverly Hills 90210 and Charmed star Shannon Doherty), Janie must overcome a strict father and a snooty sabotaging competitor to win both her spot on Dance TV and the love of her dance partner Jeff (Lee Montgomery).

Girls Just Want To Have Fun is rated PG and has a running time of 1 hr., 30 min.
