Event Details
Join Elizabeth Davis, Scranton Public Library, and Renee Roberts, Abington Community Library and Mother Barnes, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, as they explore newsworthy topics via articles, essays and films.
We will be meeting to discuss the film, Little Miss Westie (2019).
Summary:
“LITTLE MISS WESTIE follows two transgender siblings as they navigate puberty, school, dating and transitioning during the Trump era.
Ren is competing in the Lil’ Miss Westie Pageant as the first out trans girl and her older brother Luca is coaching her on posing, makeup, and talent. He knows his stuff because he competed six years ago when he was living as a girl. Moving and unflinching, LITTLE MISS WESTIE challenges fundamental ideas about gender identity as this brother and sister navigate puberty and transitioning, all while bickering and competing for the crown.”
The film is available via the library’s streaming video service Kanopy: lcls.kanopy.org or to borrow from the library on Blu-ray and DVD. Click here to place a hold.
Watch the film on your own schedule and join us via Zoom to discuss. Register by emailing edavis@albright.org to and we will email you the Zoom link.
