Event Details

Just in time for Halloween, Scranton Public Library will be presenting a “Groovy” Classic Movie Night of the 1970 film Pufnstuf on Wednesday, October 27th at 6 PM in the Henkelman Room, located on the 2nd floor of the library.

Based on the beloved 1969 Sid and Marty Krofft Saturday morning TV show H.R. Pufnstuf, Pufnstuf the movie follows young Brit Jimmy (Jack Wild) and his gold magical talking flute Freddy as they are whisked away to the magical Living Island, ruled over by friendly dragon mayor H.R. Pufnstuf. However, Jimmy becomes the target of Living Island’s resident witch Wilhelmina W. Witchiepoo (Billie Hayes), who wants to steal Freddy to impress the visiting Witches’ Council and the Boss Witch (Martha Raye) enough to win the Witch of the Year Award — against her frenemy Witch Hazel (“Mama” Cass Elliot).

The screening of Pufnstuf is free with your library card. Masks and socially distancing are recommended.
