“FAIR IS FAIR!”
November’s Classic Movie Night at Scranton Public Library will be held Wednesday, November 16th with a free screening of the 1985 cult classic The Legend of Billie Jean, starring Helen Slater, Christian Slater, Peter Coyote and Yeardley Smith (the voice of Lisa Simpson on TV’s The Simpsons). The screening will begin at 6 PM in the Henkelman Room. Admission is free with your library card.
A young woman (Helen Slater) and her teenage brother (Christian Slater) flee their Texas hometown after being falsely accused of a crime. As they try to prove their innocence, their adventures turn them into folk heroes.
The film was a critical and box office flop upon its theatrical release in 1985. However, thanks to the booming VHS market and repeated showings on HBO, the film developed a cult following over time. The film’s theme song, Invincible by Pat Benatar, was an enormous smash hit in 1985.
The Legend of Billie Jean is rated PG-13 and has a running time of 1 hr., 36 min.
