Financial Literacy is defined as the ability to understand financial terms and resources in an effort to have financial stability throughout your lifetime.

It is also one of the five literacies recognized by the Pennsylvania Library Association’s PA Forward program as being a necessary literacy for community members to live successful and fulfilling lives.

PA Forward is an initiative designed by the Pennsylvania Library Association which supports five literacies: Basic, Civic and Social, Information, Financial, and Health. The goal of the program is to create a future where all Pennsylvania public, special, academic and school libraries unite in a shared vision of helping residents succeed as citizens, parents, students, employers, employees, and consumers.
