National Friends of Libraries Week

National Friends of Libraries Week

October 16, 2023

October 15 through October 21 is National Friends of Libraries Week!

Friends of the Library groups are instrumental in your Library’s continued success and very existence. Friends of the Libraries voluntarily raise money that helps improve Libraries with funding for resources, additional programming, needed equipment, and special events throughout the year. These groups ensure that your Library can continue to be an important information and resource center, helping individuals enjoy in lifelong learning and bridging connections between different ideas, identities, and even generations.

The Lackawanna County Library System thanks our Friends this week and all year for the time they volunteer to their Libraries and to the commitment they share in helping our Libraries serve the community. We encourage anyone who is interested in volunteering their time and supporting the continued accessibility of library materials, resources, programs, and more to become a Friend of their local Library.
