Cozy Up with an eBook this Fall

Cozy Up with an eBook this Fall

November 1, 2024

With the leaves falling and cooler temperatures arriving in our area, it’s a great opportunity to relax at home and enjoy all the good things fall has to offer. While you’re getting cozy, don’t forget that the Library is here for you even when you can’t make it to check out books in person! Fall is the perfect time to wrap yourself in a blanket, pour something warm to drink, and enjoy a good eBook from the comfort of your home. Your Lackawanna County Library System library card grants access to our online catalog with thousands of titles to choose from.

The best place to start to find eBooks and eAudiobooks is Libby, the library reading app. After logging in with your library card, you can browse our entire collection, place holds, and start reading. Libby allows you to check out up to 10 titles at a time. Our collection has plenty to choose from: favorite authors, contemporary romance, compelling memoirs, graphic novels, informational resources, and more.

Don’t forget that the Library is not just for books! If you’re looking for a new series to binge or want to enjoy a movie, why not try Kanopy? Each month, Kanopy sends you tickets that can be redeemed to stream titles of your choosing. Whether you like documentaries, BBC favorites, or classic films, Kanopy has something for everyone to enjoy.

Our other option for finding an eBook to enjoy is Hoopla. Hoopla allows you to borrow 5 items per month, and our collection includes plenty of eBooks, eAudiobooks, and comics. With Hoopla, there are no holds and no waitlists, so it’s easy to find a new favorite read quickly. In addition, Hoopla has movies and television series available to stream, including their popular Binge Passes. Binge Passes allow you to enjoy an entire series or franchise of content for one borrow. If you’re looking to discover a new artist or see what’s topping the charts, Hoopla has music, too!

All these services are free with your library card. If you need to sign up for a card or want to update your information, visit our online portal. Your local Library can help if you’re having trouble getting started with one of these apps. Contact us for online assistance or visit your Library in person.
