Submission Expectations:
· Free Form Writing (e.g. poetry, etc.) – Maximum of one page
· Prose Writing (e.g. short story, essay, news report, magazine article, etc)
Grades 4-5: 300-600 words
Grades 6-8: 400-800 words
Grades 9-12: 500-1000 words
Submission Guidelines:
· Limit one (1) entry per category, per person/group (i.e. one poem person but that person can still contribute to a group submitting prose)
· Include a cover page

Examples of Themes, Prompts, and Types of Writing Submissions:
- Rewriting the narrative in a different genre (e.g. if the book was originally written as a romance, rewrite as horror
- Magazine/Zine
- In-narrative, fictional newspaper
- Journal article with original created content with original pictures and photographs
- Buzzfeed-style article or listicle
- Handwritten/Mailed Letters
- Letters to narrative characters or between characters
- Emails between characters
- Text messages between characters
- Narratives as told through snippets of dialogue
- Diary format
- Encyclopedia/Wikipedia-style entries (e.g. focusing on lore, world-building, or background to the story)
- Narrative Theories (e.g. film theories)
- Adapt the narrative into a graphic novel/manga
- Prompt: Relate the narrative to personal experiences
- Prompt: Write from the perspective of another character (not the protagonist), animal, or other element from within the narrative
- Prompt: Imagine meeting a character
- Prompt: If the narrative is based on a real-world scenario, then write a piece about celebrating the local history, culture, or other meaningful aspect of the narrative
