Today ghost stories are closely connected to Halloween, but this has not always been the case. During the Victorian Era, the long nights surrounding the winter solstice provided the perfect background to tell scary stories around the fireplace as a form of entertainment. This program will look at what types of ghost stories were told and how they fit with the larger cultural attitudes of the time.
