February 12, 2026 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

From the elegant fashions of the upper class to the reliable fabrics worn by everyday people, the Scranton Public Library along with fashion historian Emily Lance will provide an overview of important fashion trends around the American Revolutionary War. During the presentation, we will discuss the macaroni fashion subculture, fashion icons of the late 1700s, and more. Join us for this fun presentation looking at the origins of American fashion, featuring styles depicted in Charles Wilson Peale’s painting of his family from The New York Historical Museum.

In case of bad weather, library programs may be cancelled. Please check our website or Facebook page or call for program updates. Note that, even if events are cancelled, the library may still be open for basic services.
