Find your Joy during National Library Week 2026!
April 1, 2026
What brings you joy? Whether it’s enjoying an exciting story, learning a new skill, or gathering with community, your Library can help you find it!
The Lackawanna County Library System invites you to explore all the joy available at your Library and celebrate the many ways Libraries bring people together, spark creativity, and support lifelong learning during National Library Week 2026! Award-winning librarian, author, and new host of the children’s program “Reading Rainbow” Mychal Threets will serve as Honorary Chair of the American Library Association’s National Library Week, taking place this year between April 19 and 25. An annual observance, National Library Week highlights the valuable role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in strengthening our communities and transforming the lives of our patrons.
The 68th annual National Library Week theme is “Find Your Joy,” an invitation for people of all backgrounds to discover what sparks joy in them at the Library. This theme amplifies a message that is prevalent in Threets’s viral videos about Libraries and the many ways we can find joy at our Library. Whether you’re a longtime patron, a new neighbor, or haven’t visited in a while, now is the perfect time to explore all your Library has to offer! During this pivotal time for our Libraries and communities, we are proud to ensure that everyone in Lackawanna County has access to resources, services, and programs that educate, inspire, connect, and bring joy.

Our Libraries are here to help people of all ages explore new ideas and opportunities as they continue to write their own stories. During National Library Week 2026 and all year long, we thank you for your support and encourage you to celebrate all that your Library has to offer.
