Join the Libby Reads Digital Book Club this July

July 1, 2026

Looking to connect with like-minded readers but can’t make it to in-person meetings or not interested with the hassle of waiting for your copy of a book to arrive? Libby Reads is a global book club that helps resolve the hassles of traditional book clubs by providing a free eBook or audiobook copy of a title to all Libby readers with no waitlists or holds.

This July, Libby Reads will be featuring I See You’ve Called in Dead by John Kenney: “Obituary writer Bud Stanley isn’t really living his best life. He’s fallen into a funk after a divorce. (She left him for another man, who, in fairness, was far more interesting.) He’s not doing his job well. He’s given up on dating. And he’s about to be fired for accidentally publishing his own obituary one mildly drunken night (though technically the company can’t legally fire a dead person). As Bud awaits his fate at work, he does the only logical thing: He goes to the wakes and funerals of total strangers to learn how to live again.

Starting Thursday, July 9 all Lackawanna County Library System patrons can read I See You’ve Called in Dead for free using Libby with no holds or waitlists. Both eBook and audiobook options will be available depending on your preference. As you’re reading or listening, enjoy the opportunity to chat with other readers virtually using online discussion boards, or you can even learn more about the author by attending a virtual Q&A session. More information about upcoming events and all details about July’s Libby Reads pick can be found on their website. The club runs until Thursday, July 23.

Libby is available to all Lackawanna County Library System cardholders. Our digital collections contains thousands of eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, and comics that you can borrow and enjoy using your phone, tablet, or computer. Simply log in using your library card to get started today!
