On this day in 1893, the Scranton Public Library opened the Albright Memorial Library building. In celebration of our 125th Anniversary please enjoy a reading of the letter John. J. Albright wrote to the Scranton Board of Trade by Scranton Public Library Executive Director Jack Finnerty. This letter was the catalyst for establishing the first public library in the city of Scranton.
