Know About Prevention & Treatment
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States and one form of skin cancer, melanoma, is among the deadliest. With summer just around the corner, you should learn what you can do to protect yourself, what the signs are, and how to get treatment.
Here are simple steps recommended by the American Academy of Dermatology to protect your skin: Stay out of the sun as much as possible between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.; use sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher and apply it every 2 hours and after you swim or sweat; and cover up with long sleeves and a hat; check your skin regularly for changes.
