New Movie Collection Goes Live
Just in time to serve movie lovers who are locked out of theaters by covid 19, the Lackawanna County Library System announces Kanopy, a movie streaming service that’s free with a Library Card.
Providing what it calls “thoughtful entertainment,” Kanopy films are more art house than multiplex. The service is exclusively for public libraries and universities. It includes feature films, documentaries in a broad range of topic areas, and instructional material.
There are more than 3,000 films in the Kanopy collection and users can access up to four film per month.
In addition to movies suitable for grownups, the service also offers Kanopy Kids, a diverse selection of educational and entertaining movies, TV series, animated storybooks, live action, and animated favorites.
Kanopy Kids targets children ages two to eight and access to the Kids material is unlimited.
Kanopy content can be viewed on a computer, mobile device, or television via a web browser supporting HTML5 video. The Kanopy app is required for Amazon Fire Tablet and Fire Stick, Android, Apple iOS, and Roku. It can be obtained from the Google Play Store for Android devices or the App Store for Apple devices.
For more information about how to get started, consult the Kanopy Help Page or email the Library System Digital Support Team.
