As COVID-19 continues to plague the land and many people still isolate to avoid illness, the Lackawanna County Library System offers services that can be enjoyed without leaving home. If you are spending more time at home, here are two that will provide hours of entertainment.

OverDrive is the Lackawanna County Library System’s supplier of eBooks and audiobooks. It offers millions of titles including best sellers, fiction, non-fiction, classics, and children’s literature with the Libby app. You will find the kinds of books you like, authors whose work you admire, and new titles to try.

Audiobooks are also available for downloading from OverDrive. It’s a pleasure to hear someone read a good book aloud and OverDrive has a large collection of audiobooks to choose from.

For movie lovers, the Lackawanna County Library System provides Kanopy, a movie streaming service that turns your home into a movie theater.

Providing what it calls “thoughtful entertainment,” Kanopy films are more art house than multiplex and includes feature films, documentaries, and instructional material.

Kanopy, only available from public libraries and universities, has more than 30,000 films in its collection. Users can access up to four film per month.

OverDrive and Kanopy are free with your library card, so enjoy books and movies from the library while you stay safe at home.
