Lackawanna County Libraries Offering More Convenience to Patrons

Lackawanna County Libraries Offering More Convenience to Patrons

January 6, 2022

Starting February 1, 2022 Lackawanna County Libraries will offer a new service that automatically extends the loan period on most books, audiobooks, DVDs, and CDs checked out by its patrons.

This service, called Auto-Renew, will use notifications via email and text to inform people that their library materials may be eligible to have their due date extended. If the items are eligible and the library patron is not ready to return the item, no action need be taken. The item will be renewed automatically without the need for a phone call, visit, or logging into My Account.

There are some exceptions. If an item is on hold for another patron, it cannot be automatically renewed. Some items like bestsellers, new movies, video games, and board games are not eligible due to high demand.

So what do patrons need to do now? Make sure their email and mobile number are up to date so they can receive notifications about auto-renew. Patrons can update their accounts by visiting lclshome.org or by calling or visiting their nearest Lackawanna County library.
