Beginning Thursday, April 2nd, Albright Memorial Library will be presenting a weekly classic film series dedicated to classic movies of the Pre-Code era.  This series of six classic films — starring legendary actors such as Jean Harlow, Myrna Loy, James Cagney, Joan Blondell, Paul Muni, and The Three Stooges in some of their greatest and most controversial films of their careers — will be shown in the Community Room, located in the basement of the Lackawanna County Children’s Library.

In 1930, Hollywood adopted a Production Code to self-regulate the contents of its films; HOWEVER, it wasn’t fully enforced until 1934.  These four years produced some of the most shocking and provocative films ever made — murderers went free, adultery was flaunted, promiscuity was celebrated, and guilt was frivolous.  This library film series celebrates some of the best movies of the Pre-Code era.
