The Nancy Kay Holmes Branch of Scranton Public Library began life in 1902 as a private subscription library. In 1914 it became the Green Ridge Branch of Scranton Public Library. In 2010 it was renamed to honor the memory of Green Ridge resident, career educator, public servant and community activist, Nancy Kay Holmes. Today this Library is a very popular stop for the residents of Green Ridge, Dunmore and beyond.

Patron Behavior Policy

Welcome to the Nancy Kay Holmes Branch Library

We look forward to providing you with the best library service possible. In return, we ask only that you treat the Library, its contents, the staff, and other patrons with respect. Failure to do so may result in denial of service, suspension of privileges, or expulsion.

Please observe the following rules of behavior:

  • Physical, sexual, and verbal harassment of staff, and/or other library patrons is prohibited.
  • Excessive noise and disruptive behavior is prohibited.
  • Alcohol and/or other drugs may not be brought on the premises.
  • Smoking, including vaping, is not permitted anywhere in the building or on the Library grounds. Other forms of tobacco use are similarly prohibited.
  • Food is not permitted. Beverages in covered containers are permitted in designated areas only.
  • Use of obscene language is prohibited.
  • Young children must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Petitioning, soliciting or selling merchandise is prohibited.
  • Garbage bags are not permitted in the Library. Knapsacks, duffel bags, suitcases, etc. left unattended are subject to removal and disposal.
  • Animals other than non-disruptive trained service animals are not permitted.
