Classic Movie Night Wednesday, January 16th at 7 PM: 1938’s Bluebeard’s Eighth Wife
January 4, 2019
Fans of both classic movies and our yearly classic movie series, rejoice!
Starting Wednesday, January 16th, Albright Memorial Library will be screening a classic movie on the third Wednesday evening of every month. Classic movie night is free with your library card and will be held in the Henkelman Room (Reference Department, 2nd Floor) of Albright Memorial Library, which is handicapped accessible.
The kickoff film for classic movie night is the best screwball comedy you’ve never seen…1938’s Bluebeard’s Eighth Wife, starring Claudette Colbert, Gary Cooper, and David Niven.
Set on the French Riviera, a young woman (Claudette Colbert) falls for a dashing millionaire (Gary Cooper) only to find out at their engagement party that he has been down the aisle before – 7 times! This 1938 screwball comedy was co-written by Billy Wilder and directed by Ernst Lubitsch.
The film will screen at 7 PM, but early birds will be treated to a classic episode of I Love Lucy starting at 6:30.
Light refreshments will be served.
The screening of Bluebeard’s Eighth Wife is dedicated in loving memory to Charles Turiello, a wonderful man who was a regular at the classic movie nights . Charlie passed away right before Christmas following a brief but courageous battle with blood cancer.
