Join our annual award-winning Community Clean-Ups in partnership with Keep PA Beautiful, NEPA Sierra Club, the Lackawanna County Environmental Office and other local organizations. Each cleanup will focus on a litter study to promote deeper discussion about waste and the environment.
On Sunday, April 27 join us at 11:00 A.M. as we cleanup along Winton Street and Trailhead in Jessup. Last year we collected 169 glass bottles and 116 cans at this location alone! We know this because we counted everything we find with the Best Practice’s Award-Winning Litter Study where we take an in-depth look at what litter we are finding at each location.
This year we are thrilled to be partnering with the Lackawanna Heritage Valley to include an invasive plant removal along this section of trail. Come learn about invasive plants, how to remove them, and hold conversations about the correlation between invasive plants and litter. This event is family friendly and geared towards ages 8 and older. We will be in the woods and alongside the road so parents must stay with their children.
If you have a Community Cleanup Shirt from a previous cleanup, please wear that. You are welcome to bring your own gloves and trash grabbers. Trash bags, gloves, vest, and road signs are provided by Keep NEPA Beautiful.
