Free StoryWalk and Story Songs @ Hillside Park This Saturday
May 30, 2016
How ironic that Tim Farrell, our guest performer on Saturday, June 4, for Story Walk at Hillside Park, is considered, “One of the new trailblazers …” says John Schroeter, Founder of Fingerstyle Guitar Magazine. With so many guitarists trying to make their mark these days, it’s not easy being a “trailblazer.” Yet, that perfectly defines Tim Farrell. His fingerstyle playing and original compositions display an elegant simplicity that celebrates the purity of the acoustic guitar. Tim is a rare kind of musician, with the ability to both entertain an audience and inspire future generations of players. Tim will be entertaining people of all ages in between their enjoyment of a quick walk around beautiful Lake Weston at Hillside Park on Winola Road (near State Hospital), South Abington Township, where they will enjoy reading aloud the book Growing Vegetable Soup by Lois Ehlert. The StoryWalk will be available 10 AM to 1 PM and Tim will be sharing his musical talents with everyone at repeating shows at 10 AM, 11 AM, and Noon. This project was supported by a Lackawanna County Arts and Culture Community Grant, a program of Lackawanna County Commisioners Patrick M. O’Malley, Jerry Notarianni, and Laureen A. Cummings, as well as a grant from Covenant Presbyterian Church, Scranton, co-sponsored by the Library and AAJRB. Free and open to all. NOTE: If it is raining, this event will be held at the Abington Community Library from 10 AM to 1 PM the same day.
