Knit One, Purl Two, Give Three
January 29, 2015
The Library has been a resource for many different types of crafters. One of our most enduring crafts has been knitting. People still want to learn, share what they’ve learned, and share what they’ve made with others less fortunate. The CARING HANDS group that meets informally at the Library on Mondays at 1PM does all three.
Mid-December these knitters were called upon by the Voluntary Action Center to create as many knitted headbands as they could for Martin Luther King Day. This small group of knitters put their needles into action and over 200 headbands were created. The bands will be distributed to the homeless at five area shelters along with other personal care items this year.
Become involved in several ways. Please donate your unwanted yarn! Join us on Mondays at 1PM to knit! Or, if you’d like to work at home, ask the director for the simple instructions. Later this year watch for how you can donate some of the other needed personal care items. Finally, don’t forget to check out our well stocked collection of books on knitting and crocheting.
