Lackawanna County Children’s Library Closing Feb. 15 – Feb. 27
January 31, 2019
The Lackawanna County Children’s Library will be closing on Friday, February 15, 2019 to restore and treat the hardwood flooring along with the customized artwork depicting Scranton landmarks. We expect the Children’s Library to remain closed through February 27, 2019. This will be the first of several upgrades that will occur through 2019 including renovation of the children’s restrooms, updating the accessibility to both the front and side entrances to the building, repairing the front stairs to prevent water erosion, and restoration of the front doors.
While the Children’s Library will be closed, library services will continue to be available. Our Nancy Kay Holmes Branch in Green Ridge, Library Express Bookstore (located in the Marketplace at Steamtown), the Albright Memorial Library, and Bookmobile will operate normally. Library materials from the Lackawanna County Children’s Library can be placed on hold with your library card, and sent to any Lackawanna County Library System library. In addition, materials can be returned to any LCLS location or in the library’s book drop on N. Washington Ave.
Programs for children, during the closure, will be held in the Henkelman Room which is located on the second floor of the Albright Library.
Patrons who have questions or requests for Children’s Library materials can call (570) 348-3000.
Questions regarding the renovations and closure can be sent to the Scranton Public Library’s Chief Operating Officer Marie Crispino. Phone: (570) 348-3000 ext. 3024. Email: marie@albright.org.
This improvement is a project of the Lackawanna County Commissioners, in cooperation with the Lackawanna County Library System.
We appreciate your patience as we undertake these important renovations.
