Library to Present 30th Anniversary Screening of 1989 Musical “Sing” Wednesday, July 17th
July 9, 2019
Scranton Public Library will be presenting a 30th anniversary screening of the 1989 musical Sing on Wednesday, July 17th at 6:30 PM in the Henkelman Room.
A Brooklyn high school teacher (Lorraine Bracco) assigns two disparate high school students, he a streetwise Italian rebel (Peter Dobson) and she a strong-willed Jewish girl (Jessica Steen), to chair the annual “Sing,” a musical competition between seniors and the underclassmen attending Brooklyn schools.
Starring Lorraine Bracco (The Sopranos), Peter Dobson (Last Exit to Brooklyn), Jessica Steen (Heartland), Louise Lasser (Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman), Patti LaBelle, Laurnea Wilkerson, and (in one of his first movie appearances) Oscar winner Cuba Gooding, Jr.
A box office disappointment upon its theatrical release in 1989, Sing has gained both major love and a devoted fan base over the years and includes a killer 80s soundtrack.
Scranton Public Library is proud to be presenting this screening of Sing (on good ol’ VHS) in celebration of its 30th anniversary.
Light refreshments will be served.
The screening is free, but registration is required. You can register online by clicking here.
