Messy Science: Slime
July 26, 2018
If you’ve been around the Abington Community Library much this summer, you’ll have seen just how many exciting programs for all ages have been happening here! From a hands-on reptile experience to a sushi-making workshop, we’ve had a great time. Our Messy Science series has been a big success, with sessions so far on Water and Slime for both Grades K-4 and Grades 5-12 groups.
Yesterday we got messy with a group of over 35 kids, creating different slimey mixtures. Fluffy slime was our last project, and each child was able to take some home to play with. Check out the recipe below (from http://redtri.com/try-our-family-s-recipe-for-less-messy-extra-fluffy-slime/) and make your own at home!
Fluffy Slime
Materials: 4 cups shaving cream, food coloring, 1/2 c white glue, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1.5 tbs saline solution, baby oil.
Instructions: Add the shaving cream to a large bowl and stir in some food coloring. Add the glue and baking soda and stir thoroughly. Add the saline solution and stir. Add a few drops of baby oil and using your hands, knead, knead, knead. After a few minutes of kneading, the slime is no longer sticky and ready for playtime!
