The Pennsylvania Library Association has given a Best Practices Award to the Nancy Kay Holmes Branch Library for “ABC Read With Me,” a program that encourages pre-school age children to be active participants in reading stories to help them prepare for school.
Branch Manager Amber Cholish accepted the award on behalf of the Library during the Pennsylvania Library Association’s 2018 Annual Conference in Harrisburg last week.
Nancy Kay Holmes was one of a number of libraries around the Commonwealth honored for best practices in services for youth (birth to 18).
Said Caralee Sommerer, Senior Librarian with the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and chair of this year’s Best Practices Awards Committee. “We chose winners that embodied the PA Forward literacies in their programs, sparked creativity, had a unique community collaboration and was engaging to audiences.”
