Explore Your Creativity During NaNoWriMo

November 1, 2024

Want to share your story but not sure where to start? Writing can be difficult, even for the most seasoned writers—National Novel Writing Month can help you get started and find your voice. Each November since 1999, NaNoWriMo organizes a monthlong initiative that encourages people to get started with writing a novel. The organization provides the tools, structure, and community to help you find your creative voice and track your progress. You may begin the month as a teacher, a mechanic, or a stay-at-home parent, but you will finish as a novelist with a complete first draft.

After signing up, a world of resources and programs become available to help you in writing your novel. You can set a challenge to keep yourself on task, explore forums for support, and join virtual events online. NaNoWriMo also has a special program for Young Writers with special tools and resources to help young writers and educators achieve their creative goals all year.

At the Library, we want to encourage you to explore your creativity this month and always. Several of our Libraries offer writing groups, workshops, and readings to help you hone your skills. Visit our Events Directory to see what literary events are coming up in your community. As always, our catalog has many resources to help you learn more about writing or to find some inspiration. Your library card also provides access to many eResources that can help you learn new skills. Please contact us with any questions or for help finding programs and resources at your Library.
