April is National Minority Health Month
April 1, 2025
National Minority Health Month, observed every April, aims to raise awareness about the health disparities affecting minority populations and promote the importance of achieving health equity. Minorities can see a variety of problems in the health environment, including lack of inclusion in health studies and medical trials. Treatments and diagnostic tools may not be as effective, and doctors may not be as informed on minority health needs as they should be.
The Lackawanna County Library System aims to provide health literacy support for everyone. Resources like GALE Health and Wellness cover a variety of health topics, including the medical needs of different groups. Health and Wellness includes full-text medical journals, magazines, reference works, multimedia, and more.
