On the Same Page Author To Speak
March 12, 2015
Monday, April 13 @ 7 P.M.
Scranton Cultural Center
Readers who participate in On the Same Page in Lackawanna County will have a chance to meet bestselling author James Grippando and have a copy of one of his books autographed when he appears as the first speaker in the 2015 Matthew F. Flynn Library Lecture Series.
As an author, Grippando has been compared with John Grisham, and the comparison is apt since both writers are also lawyers. Grippando practiced trial law for 12 years before his first novel was published and he keeps his hand in the profession as a member of the well-known firm of Boies, Schiller & Flexner.
His writing career took off in 1994 with the publication of “The Pardon,” to be followed over the next two decades by 22 additional books, several of which have landed on bestseller lists.
Many of his most popular books are 11 novels that feature Miami defense attorney Jack Swyteck. In the same profession as his creator, Swyteck has his feet in two different worlds: That of his father, an ambitious politician who rose from the police force to become governor of Florida, and that of his mother and grandmother, Cuban refugees.
Tickets for the Grippando lecture are available at any Lackawanna County library or online here.
