Prescription Drug Take-Back Event

Prescription Drug Take-Back Event

October 17, 2016

In an effort to address the opioid epidemic impacting our county, state, and country, the Abington Community Library, located at 1200 West Grove Street in Clarks Summit, is hosting a Drug Take-Back event. This event, supported by the Lackawanna County Medical Society and Pennsylvania Medical Societies and the Lackawanna / Susquehanna Office of Drug and Alcohol Programs was created to take-back unused and expired medications for humans and pets. Disposal is free, anonymous, and will be supervised by the Clarks Summit Police Department. Help reduce the missuse of narcotics in your home or your parent’s home by having them safely and discretely disposed.

Also for your enjoyment: Relieve stress without meds by having a chair massage or reflexology, compliments of Body & Soul Therapeutic Massage, $1 / minuite minimum 5 minutes, to benefit the Library. Free refreshments compliments of Rotary Club of the Abingtons.

In addition, LCMS Member, Dr. Paul Remick, will be attending with information on opioids and PAMED’s program, “Opioids for Pain: Be Smart. Be Safe. Be Sure.”. Dr. Remick specializes in Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine at Horizon Medical Corp and serves as the Medical Director of Lackawanna County Drug and Alcohol Treatment Services.

For patients living, working, or traveling further down the valley, Taylor Community Library (710 South Main Street, Taylor) will also be hosting a “National Take-Back Initiative of Prescription Drugs Event” on Saturday, October 22nd from 10am–2pm.
