Protect Your Family: Immunize
August 8, 2018
August Is National Immunization Awareness Month
As we approach the start of a new school year, it’s time to weigh the importance of immunization. Immunization, after all, protect us, and especially our children, from diseases like measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, polio, diphtheria, tetanus, and whooping cough.
Vaccination is one of the greatest public health achievements of the 20th century. Diseases that used to kill thousands of people a year – especially children – are largely things of the past in America and all because of immunization.
In addition to protecting individuals from diseases, immunizing an individual helps to protect the health of our community, too.
