Spring Has (Almost) Sprung at the Library

Spring Has (Almost) Sprung at the Library

March 3, 2025

At this point in the year, we’re all ready for warmer temperatures and sunny days. With spring on its way, we won’t have to wait much longer to enjoy fresh blooms, blue skies, and all the joys the season has to offer. The vernal equinox, or the First Day of Spring, is March 20 and marks the end of the winter season. Though the cold isn’t gone just yet, March is a great time to start planning for warmer weather and sprucing up your garden.

Our Libraries have plenty of events coming up to help you get ready for the planting season. Some Libraries, like the Carbondale Public Library, have Gardening Clubs that meet monthly to share ideas and tips. In addition, the Abington Community Library and North Pocono Public Library both have community gardens. Patrons can start their garden this year with complimentary seeds from the Valley Community Library‘s Seed Library. Our Libraries often partner with Master Gardeners and host information sessions, too. In the coming weeks, the Albright Memorial Library will be hosting a workshop and a seed and bulb swap. As temperatures start to rise, these programs and others can help you learn more about gardening. Stay tuned to our events page for more gardening programs.

If you can’t make it to one of these Libraries, our eResources can help you cultivate a green thumb. Craft & Hobby has gardening tutorials that are sure to help you as you prepare your flower or vegetable beds. As always, we have a wide variety of materials that can help you master a new skill or hobby. Visit our online catalog or browse eBooks and audiobooks for more information.
