Find Adventure at the Library All Summer Long
July 1, 2024
Our SummerQuest reading and activities challenge is well underway, and there’s plenty to explore at your local Library this summer! If you haven’t signed up yet, be sure to stop by any library throughout Lackawanna County now through August 9 to receive a log where you are able to track how much you read during the challenge as well as suggestions for activities that help you find adventure all around you. Plus, don’t miss the chance to participate in our Passport program, where visiting each Library in Lackawanna County will earn you the chance to win a $25 gift card at each location. SummerQuest is an all-ages event, and everyone is welcome to participate.
Starting in July, the Lackawanna County Library System will be sponsoring several events that will travel to each of our Member Libraries. Our dedicated library staff work hard to bring these exciting events to your local communities by collaborating with fellow librarians and partner organizations. Check out upcoming SummerQuest events below, and contact your local Library to reserve a space for one of these exciting programs!
Join Science Heroes on a treasure-hunting adventure deep within the jungle! Don’t miss this exciting and interactive STEM-learning adventure for kids ages 5 through 11.
Kids ages 7 through 10 are invited to join our friend, Camille Dantone, from the Everhart Museum, for an exciting story and amazing art project!
Other SummerQuest events for children include Top Secret Agent Camp with Miss Elizabeth from the North Pocono Public Library, Going on a Bear Hunt Adventure with Miss Angela from the Lackawanna County Children’s Library, Flashlight Fun with Miss Leigh-Ann from the Abington Community Library, and Exploding Paint Rockets with Miss Jenna from the Lackawanna County Children’s Library. Contact your local Library to register for one of these programs!
Teens are invited to attend our returning Mini Masterpieces program, which is being held at Lackawanna County Library System locations throughout SummerQuest. After creating a work of art on a miniature canvas, teens are invited to a gallery reception on Friday, September 6 at the Everhart Museum where each piece will be displayed.
