Summer Reading Results Measured
October 1, 2015
Thousands of Kids Participated
Lackawanna County libraries had more than 3,600 children join and participate in Summer Reading Programs in 2015, and attendance at performances and exhibits for children at the libraries and at local attractions through the library Passport topped 16,000.
“Once again, Summer Reading Programs have proven popular with families in Lackawanna County,” said Mary Garm, Library System administrator.
The children read 11,889 books over the eight weeks of the program. That represents more than 59,000 hours of reading, librarians estimate.
“It’s time well spent,” Mrs. Garm added.
